Several cars were damaged and at least two overturned during icy and snowy conditions on a steep Huddersfield road.
Drivers of cars and a van lost control while driving down Bank End Road at Golcar this morning. Residents are calling on Kirklees Council to put up a warning sign to alert drivers to the dangers.
Bank End Road is just off Slades Road and links Golcar with Slaithwaite. Sat nav users can be directed to use the route but is is steep and narrow. CCTV footage captured the cars as their drivers lost control going down the steep and narrow lane.
Local resident Vikki described the scenes this morning as "carnage" and said it was only a matter of time before someone was seriously injured. She thinks Kirklees Council should look into some kind of warning sign to alert drivers in bad weather. It is believed that no-one was injured this morning.
It is believed that at least five vehicles ended up damaged this morning after skidding on the road. The road is a notorious location for incidents in winter but Vikki said that this morning was the worst she had seen in many years.
