CARLOS TEVEZ RUSHED TO HOSPITAL WITH CHEST PAINS

Carlos Tevez has been taken to hospital in Argentina after suffering chest pains, Independiente have confirmed.

The former Manchester United and City forward, 40, was admitted to a clinic in Buenos Aires last night after seeking medical help and has stayed at a nearby hospital as a precaution for further tests.

Tevez has been head coach at Independiente for eight months and has extended his contract until 2026 since his appointment. His club released a statement saying Tevez “will be hospitalized as a precaution until the corresponding studies are completed”.

“Our coach, Carlos Tevez, entered the La Trinidad Sanatorium in San Isidro with chest pain. They carried out the corresponding studies and they were satisfactory,” they added. “He will continue with a series of exams scheduled in advance as part of a general check-up that is usually carried out.”

San Isidro is an upmarket area of Buenos Aires, the home of Independiente. The club have a training session scheduled for later today. Last year he was reported to have been rushed to hospital after fainting at home.

Tevez has gone into management after a glittering career that included seven years in the Premier League where he first helped West Ham complete a remarkable escape from relegation, although his time was controversial for his club breaking Premier League rules on third-party ownership.

At United he won the Champions League twice and two Premier League titles before moving to neighbours City, where he was part of the team that won the title in 2012 through Sergio Aguero’s last-gasp goal.

His first steps into management came at Rosario Central when he was appointed manager in 2022 but he resigned after five months citing the club’s upcoming presidential elections as the reason. His Independiente team were sixth after the first phase of the Argentinian league
