CHIEF EXECUTIVE OF THE BELFAST HEALTH AND SOCIAL CARE TRUST RESIGNS

The Chief Executive of the Belfast Health and Social Care Trust has resigned.

Dr Cathy Jack has stepped down from her role as head of the health trust after taking over the role four years ago in 2020..

She has been working within the healthcare sector for 37 years, joining the consultant medical staff at the Royal Victoria Hospital as a Geriatrician in 2004. She became Deputy Medical Director in 2008.

In 2014 she became Medical Director and Deputy Chief Executive in July 2017.

A Health Trust spokesperson said: "Dr Jack has led the organisation through a challenging landscape for health and social care, including a global pandemic. She embodies health service values and has worked diligently to ensure our patients and service users have received the best possible care. Dr Jack is passionate about staff engagement and spent time listening to staff to better understand their experiences and provide support. Belfast Trust would wish to pay tribute to Dr Jack for her unwavering commitment to Belfast Trust and her wider contribution to health and social care in Northern Ireland."

Ciaran Mulgrew Belfast Trust Chair said “On behalf of Trust Board I want to thank Cathy for her dedication and leadership to the people we serve and she leaves with our sincere thanks and best wishes”.

The Belfast Trust has now started a recruitment process following Dr Jack's design to resign.
